On December 20,1996, Tim Holmes was busy at work at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, when his manager came and told him to head over to the company’s Town Hall theatre, where Apple executives made announcements and held meetings.

Mr. Holmes grabbed his Apple QuickTake camera and took several photographs of the surprising return of Steve Jobs, after his 11-year absence from the company.

Steve Jobs' jacket appears to be purple but it is black in colour because of poor quality of camera in 1996.

Holmes reportedly grabbed his Apple QuickTake camera and captured several images of the surprising return of Jobs after he was fired from Apple in 1985

Jobs, who was 41 at the time, is seen smiling with a full head of hair and a black blazer, which the Apple QuickTake camera turned purple

First glimpse: More than 16 years later, Holmes uploaded the pictures to his Flickr account for the world's first viewing of the historical moment at Apple

Back story: Jobs was fired from Apple in 1985 when the company¿s board sided with then CEO John Sculley over Jobs during an internal power struggle

Jobs' return to Apple came after the computer company he co-founded in the mid-1970s acquired NeXT, another computer company he started after he was let go from Apple
